POLITICAL WEB SITES TO EXPLORE:

Fast Politics, as the name implies is a Site of click throughs. Political News headlines, State by State Political News, Breaking news sites and Net News locations. There are also click throughs to Opinion Polls, major newspapers a nice assortment of political commentators, and hundreds more.

Ethnic Majority's aim is to empower African, Hispanic (Latino), and Asian Americans. Most extensive list of minority candidates we have seen on the web. News, discussion groups and lots of demographics.

Town Hall is the granddaddy of Conservative Republican web sites. We have revisited this excellent conservative portal. It is a comprehensive site with an extensive list of commentators; it also provides news, alerts, email sign-ups and more.

C-Span and Congressional Quarterly have joined to provide a site "Capitol Spotlight" that examines Congressional action. It contains analysis, video clips and a discussion group. Their home pages features the hot issue, i.e., "Congress Debates Iraq Resolution", a box highlighting bills to watch and key votes on the docket.

The Washington Times has an excellent Daybook, that outlines the President's activities, as well as an extensive list of DC hearings, rallies, workshops, Federal Agency activities, the Supreme Court docket, the Senate, Senate Committees, the House and House Committees.

MediaWhores bashes TV, Radio and print Media Journalists. The "Whore of the Week" features a journalist and his/her inaccurate portrayal of the news. Check out their A-List Whore Roster, their Media-in exile list and their required reading. Many letters to the Site are printed but we could not locate the Site's Editor. You might be interested in bookmarking their extensive media contact list of Progressive and Conservative Talk Show programs.

POLITICS 2002

Check out the DNC flash movie, a graphic depiction of the Social Security issue that is being aired. RNC Chair Marc Racicot called it "beyond offensive". A DNC spokesperson called the piece "a humorous depiction of a serious problem".

ABC Watchdog 2002 Calling themselves a truth squad for political communications, ABC is encouraging the public to report deceptive political advertising in radio, direct mail, email, internet, telephone solicitations, pamphlets and fliers. They have also included a guide to judging misleading advertising.

The California Gubernatorial race between the incumbent Governor Gray Davis (D) and Bill Simon (R)  is heating up on-line. The Simon campaign has a parody site that targets Gov. Gray Davis' policy of corporations and individuals paying for favorable governmental action.

The NJ Senatorial race has a new old face. Former Senator Frank Lautenberg (D) (under construction) has replaced Sen. Bob Torricelli (D) who withdrew from the race. Lautenberg faces Doug Forrester (R)  on the November ballot. Check out the NJ GOP ad on the current battle.

This is a parody site lampooning the President. It has the full array of articles, cartoons, petitions to sign, products to buy and an extensive list of links.

GoodbyeCynthia.com is an example of the power of the web as one element in the independent campaign to oust an incumbent Congresswoman - Rep. Cynthia McKinney (GA). She lost the August 20th Democratic Primary. The site is still up and worth a look.

Rice2008 is the unofficial grassroots effort to generate excitement about a Condoleezza Rice presidency. First step - should Dick Cheney decide not to run again in 2004, President Bush will tap Dr. Rice as his VP. Next step is a presidential run in 2008. There's an extensive biography, past speeches, reports and numerous articles about her.

Politicalweb.info tracks 2002 campaign sites on a weekly basis. Data on current and new web sites is provided. The Site charts the types of information, types of links, etc. If you want to know how many campaigns are doing what, this is the Site to check out. The project is sponsored by a grant from The Pew Charitable Trusts.

State Decisions 2002 covers all 50 states. This well organized site features candidates for Governor, Lt. Governor and Attorney's General with links to campaign websites. Of particular interest is a complete list of statewide ballot questions.
