http://www.vote-smart.org Time to revisit this excellent political web site. Factual information on more than 13,000 elected offices and candidates for political offices. Positions on issues, campaign finance and much more. General State related information includes election and party data as well as an update on redistricting.

http://www.commoncause.org/laundromat Follow the money. Searchable database of special interest soft money contributions to the Democratic and Republican national party committees. Who gives it and who gets it. The site also includes a profile of the largest soft money donors many other campaign finance related research studies.

State Party Directory We have updated our State Party site, including the Libertarian, Reform, Green and other third party state sites. Please check the site for additions, deletions and corrections.

http://www.people-press.org The Pew Research is an independent opinion research group that studies public attitudes toward the press, politics and public policy issues.

Some of their recent polls are of particular interest:

  • (1) Americans are open to dissenting views on the War on Terrorism but the shock has been slow to recede – 42% were still depressed in the 10/4/01 poll.
  • (2) Military action appears to have a higher priority than homeland defense.

http://www.aclu.org Describes itself as safeguarding our bill of rights. Over 300,000 card-carrying members. Check out the discussion of the Senate anti-terrorism legislation, and the danger to civil liberties. Of interest is their Civil Liberties Voters’ Guide.
